Our Patrick is Caddy of the Year at the HGCC for 2009

Thanks to Teresa Wright who forwarded me this picture to the right. We are all proud of Patrick being recently recognized as the Hamilton Golf & Country Club's Caddy of the Year for 2009. He received a gold HGCC pin that has been engraved with his name and recognition.

Starting as a surprise under age caddy back in 2008, Paddy, as I would like to call him, rose to great heights for this year, his 2nd year of caddying. Progressing through the ranks of C, then B and finally to A caddy status, he worked tirelessly throughout the year when many others waned.  By year end, he had accumulated in excess of 80 rounds.

Because of his efforts, he is now our resident family banker.

Congratulations, Patrick

Little Chong Bros at the HGCC vs Oak Gables Golf Friendly

Now that the Chong Big Bros are at UoW, it's left up to the Little Bros to carry on the local golf tradition. Both Nick and Pat were invited to represent the HGCC Caddies to challenge the Oak Gables Junior golfers at Oak Gables. It's to become an annual compettion with 2009 being the first. Both Braden and Matthew Sartori also were part of 12 member Team HGCC. Nick shot a 9 over 74 on way to a 1 up win for his twosome; Nick sunk a crucial par putt to win it on the last hole. Pat followed with a 7 over 72 but his team loses 1 down to an Oak Gables twosome. In the end, HGCC loses 15 1/2 to 8 1/2 to Oak Gables as a Team.

Thank You to All for their Contribution to the 2009 Ossie Invitational IV

On Sunday August 30, the golf world witness the passing of the Ossie Cup from last year's Champions (Matthew and Patrick) to the new 2009 Champions (William and Ben).  Patrick handed over the venerable Green Jacket, emblematic of Golf Supremacy in the Chong-Enright (or is it the Enright-Chong) Golf world.  The latter won by 4 strokes with a four under par score over the hard charging teams of Team Matthew-Patrick and Team Greg-Kevin-Ryan. With 4 holes left the 3 teams were separated by only 2 strokes. However down the stretch, the eventual winner showed their true Champion form.

Ryan is the New Babe of the Diamond

On Saturday August 29, a large contingent of Chongs and Enrights was there to witness the batting and fielding exploits of Ryan. Unfortunately the baseball Gods were not aligned with Ryan's Blue Jays as they succumbed 11-6 to the Pirates.

Carolyn is competing at the 127th Henley in St. Catherines this week. Although the competition is held dirung the whole August 3-9 week, Carolyn's races will be held from Thursday August 6 to Saturday August 8. Carolyn is in the U17 Women Cox 4+ race and there is no weight limit. Carolyn's boat is made up of 2 Flyweights, 1 Lightweight and a single true Heavyweight and will therefore be at a disadvantage against boats that will have more heavyweights.

Carolyn's Ontario Bronze Medallists in U17 Womens Open Fours

At the recent Ontario Rowing Championships on July 25 in Welland, Carolyn's Leander Womens Fours won Bronze in the Womens Junior Fours. Having to compete in the Open Heavyweight Division, the girls did very well to place third against boats with all or more heavyweights.
